INTRODUCTION

VBoard Interactive Flat Panels (IFPs) are designed for use in education and corporate and featuring wide range of whiteboarding and collaboration tools like WhiteBoard and wireless screen sharing. VBoard IFPs are based on Android operating system and has home launcher named VBoard Launcher.

VBoard IFPs have user authentication process, and it is required to login for using IFP features.

VBoard IFPs can be configured to work in one of the following operation modes.

  • Account Management System (AMS) passive
  • Account Management System (AMS) active

VBoard Account Management System (AMS) is a web server keeping all user and device information and has a web UI accessible for the users any time. In case VBoard IFPs are configured to be in sync with AMS, each user can access the same content on any IFP.

VBoard IFPs can also work without Account Management System (AMS). In this case, each IFP works as stand alone. User information becomes IFP specific or in other words differs for each IFP.

VBoard Launcher Home Screen includes following UI components.

  • Favorite applications widget
  • All Apps button
  • Advanced Settings button
  • Menu Bars – Located at left, right and bottom edges of the screen

VBoard Launcher has following main features.

  • User Authentication
  • User Login with NFC
  • User Roles
  • User Management
  • AMS Active / Passive Modes
  • Apps like Whiteboarding, Screensharing
  • Tools like Drawing over screen, Screenshot, Screen Lock
  • Sources like OPS, HDMI, VGA, DP

SETUP

Please follow instructions below for setting up VBoard IFP.

  • First Time Installation (FTI)
  • Login
  • (Optional) Setting AMS
  • (Optional) Setting NFC

FIRST TIME INSTALLATION

When you turn on VBoard IFP, it is required to complete following steps for FTI.

 

  • Select Country
  • Select Language
  • Select Eco or Reactive Mode
  • Finish

LOGIN

After FTI, an initial home screen is displayed including following UI items.

  • User Login Button
  • Favorite Applications
  • Menu Bars – Located at left, right and bottom edges of screen

Please follow instructions below for login.

  • Press Login Button located at Home Screen for viewing User Login Page
  • Enter username and password. Username and password are set “admin” by default and can be editable afterwards.

SETTING AMS

VBoard IFPs support working in AMS active or AMS passive mode. AMS passive mode is set by default after FTI.

SETTING AMS ACTIVE MODE

VBoard IFPs can be configured to work in AMS active mode. Please follow instructions below.

  • Connect Device to internet with Ethernet
  • OR enable wireless connection
    • Press Advanced Settings button located at Home Screen
    • Go to Device Preferences à Wireless Connection
    • Complete wireless settings.
  • Press Settings button on the menu bar located at left, bottom or right edges of the screen
  • Press AMS button located at Settings Menu for viewing AMS Settings page
  • Enter AMS settings
    • Turn on AMS Active mode
    • Enter AMS URL
    • Enter AMS Key unique for intended AMS URL
    • Enter a Display Name. Display information can be followed through AMS with this name.
  • Press Save button to register IFP to AMS. If succeed, user logout is performed.

As a result, device and all user settings are downloaded from AMS and users registered in AMS become active in IFP

SETTING AMS PASSIVE MODE

VBoard IFPs can be configured to work in AMS passive mode. Please follow instructions below.

  • Press Settings button on the menu bar located at left, bottom or right edges of the screen
  • Press AMS button located at Settings Menu for viewing AMS Settings page
  • Enter AMS settings
    • Turn off AMS Active mode
  • Press Save button. If succeed, user logout is performed

As a result, users specific for IFP become active.

SETTING NFC

VBoard IFPs support login not only with manual username and password but also with NFC cards defined for each user.

NFC adapter and NFC Login is turned off by default after FTI. Please follow instructions below for turning on NFC and associating an NFC ID with user.

  • Enable NFC input. This setting is specific for each device.
    • Press Advanced Settings button located at Home Screen
    • Go to Device Preferences à NFC
    • Turn NFC On
  • Enable NFC Login. This setting is specific for each device.
    • Press Settings button on the menu bar located at left, bottom or right edges of the screen
    • Turn on NFC Login
  • Associate current user with NFC Card. This setting can be updated any time.
    • Press Settings button on the menu bar located at left, bottom or right edges of the screen
    • Press NFC button located at Login Menu for viewing NFC Settings page
    • Hold NFC card against NFC input at the bottom of the panel. This makes NFC ID area filled with NFC card ID.
  • Press Save button. Save operation will result in success in case of no user registered with that NFC card.

As a result, the NFC Card ID is associated with the user. If AMS active mode is used, this ID is also registered in AMS. The NFC Kard ID can be updated later via AMS.

HOME SCREEN

Following areas are seen at Home screen after user login.

  • Favorite Applications widget
  • All Apps button
  • Advanced Settings button
  • Menu Bars – Located at left, right and bottom edges of the screen

Navigation with Remote Control Unit (RCU) is provided for following items.

  • Favorite Applications widget
  • All Apps, Login and Advanced Settings buttons

MENU BARS

Menu Bars are located at the bottom, left and right edges of the screen. They can be collapsed and expanded with buttons pointed with arrows. The bars are hidden automatically after ten seconds and can be re-shown with pressing anywhere on screen. They are always displayed on top of all contents and can be accessed any time.

Each menu bar includes same function buttons listed below.

  • Arrow – Expands or collapses bar content
  • Back – Navigates Previous Action
  • Home – Opens Home Screen
  • Recents – Opens Recent Apps Screen
  • Settings – Opens Settings Menu
  • Profile – Opens Profile Menu
  • All Apps – Opens All Apps Menu
  • Tools – Opens Tools Menu
  • Source – Opens Source Menu

Menu Bar buttons except Back, Home and Recents open sub menus listed below. These sub menus are always displayed on top of all contents and can be accessed any time. The location of sub menus on the screen depends on selected menu bar location. Sub menus are closed by pressing anywhere on screen.

SETTINGS MENU

Settings Menu provides several settings related with user management and AMS etc. It includes following function buttons.

  • Volume – Adjusts Volume Level and is Specific for Device
  • Brightness – Adjusts Brightness Level and is Specific for Device
  • NFC Login – Enables Login with NFC and is Specific for Device
  • Advanced – Opens Android Settings
  • AMS – Opens AMS Settings
  • Users – Opens User Management Settings
  • NFC – Opens NFC Settings for Logged in User
  • Password – Opens User Password Settings for Logged in User
  • Lock – Opens Lock Password Settings for Logged in User

Following functions are visible only for users with role “Super Admin”.

PROFILE MENU

Profile Menu provides information and tools related with logged in user. It includes following areas.

  • Profile Picture – Views Profile Picture of Logged in User
  • Username – Views Username of Logged in User
  • Log out
  • Lock – Lock Screen

ALL APPS MENU

The All Apps Menu lists the apps installed on the device and allows the user to select an app from this list and run the app.

  • Calculator – Opens Calculator
  • Chronometer – Opens Chronometer
  • Timer – Opens Timer
  • Palette – Opens Floating Palette

  • Screenshot – Saves Cropped or Fullscreen Image

LOGIN

VBoard Launcher has user authentication process, and it is required to login first for using IFP features. Please follow instructions below for login.

  • Press Login Button located at Home Screen for viewing User Login Page
  • Enter username and password
  • OR hold user NFC card against NFC input at the bottom of the panel

AMS SETTINGS

Account Management System (AMS) is a server based system including all information of users and VBoard IFPs registered to the system. In that way, user can access his/her own settings on any IFP registered to same AMS.

VBoard IFPs support working in AMS active or AMS passive mode. AMS passive mode is set by default after FTI.

Please see SETTING AMS ACTIVE MODE section for setting AMS as active and using IFP in sync with AMS.

ADVANCED SETTINGS

VBoard IFPs are based on Android operating system. Android System Level settings can be viewed and configured.

Please follow instructions below for listing and configuring Android system settings. It is possible to navigate through the items with the remote control unit (RC).

  • Press Advanced Settings button located at Home Screen
  • Navigate through items for setting desired item
  • OR Press back button on menu bars located at left, right and bottom of the screen or press back button located at remote control unit for exit

ALL APPLICATIONS

Installed apps can be listed and a desired app can be launched from the app list.

Please follow instructions below for listing all apps and launching an app. It is possible to navigate through the items with the remote control unit (RC) and make a selection.

  • Press All Apps button on Home screen
  • Press an app to launch
  • OR Click anywhere on the screen other than the apps window or press the back button on the remote control unit to exit.

All Apps can be also viewed by using the All Apps menu. Please see ALL APPS MENU section.

Note: The applications having landscape screen orientation only, are supported in the device. The applications having portrait screen orientation installed from app store or manually are not supported in the device.

RECENT APPLICATIONS

Recent used applications can be listed, deleted from recents or one can be selected among them for launch.

Please follow instructions below for listing recent used applications.

  • Press Recent Apps button on menu bars located at left, bottom or right side of the screen
  • Press a desired app to launch or Clear all button to clean recent apps.
  • OR Click anywhere on the screen other than the recent apps window or press the back button on the remote control unit to exit.

FAVORITE APPLICATIONS

Favorite Applications widget provides user select three apps maximum for quick access It is possible to navigate through the items with the remote control unit and make a selection.

The favorite app list is specific for each user. Please follow instructions below for updating the list.

  • Press add favorite button on Home screen for viewing Favorite App List Update page
  • Select three apps maximum
  • Press Save button
  • OR Click anywhere on the screen other than the favorite apps window or press the back button on the remote control unit to exit.

Please follow instructions below for listing sources and selecting desired source. It is possible to navigate through the items with the remote control unit and make a selection.

  • Press Source button on remote control unit
  • Press a source to open
  • OR Click anywhere on the screen other than the source list window or press the back button on the remote control unit to exit.

Source list can be also viewed by using the source menu. Please see SOURCE MENU section.

LOCK SCREEN

Lock function provides locking screen and prevents usage of IFP features. In order unlock screen, user is required to enter his/her own screen lock password. Please follow instructions below for locking screen.

  • Press Profile button on the menu bar located at left, bottom or right side of the screen
  • Press Lock button located at Profile Menu for switching to lock screen
  • If you do not have a screen lock password, set a Screen Lock Password
    • Enter a numeric lock password. The password must be eight digits long, including numbers 1 to 4.
    • Press Save
    • To lock the screen, press the Profile button on the menu bars and then the Lock button on the Profile Menu
  • Enter lock password on screen or use arrow buttons on remote control unit (RCU) for exit. Each arrow button on RCU corresponds to digits 1 to 4.

TOOLS

CALCULATOR, CHRONOMETER and TIMER

Calculator, Chronometer and Timer are launched via the Tools Menu. These tools are always displayed at the top of all content and can be moved over the screen by drag and drop.

Please follow instructions below for launching calculator, chronometer or timer.

  • Press Tools button on the menu bar located at left, right or bottom of the screen
  • Chose one of the tools
  • Press close button for exit

QUICK PALETTE

The Quick Palette essentially allows drawing on the screen. Opens anywhere on the screen by tapping with two fingertips held in a V-shape. It can also be opened using the Tools Menu.

Following function buttons are included in Quick Palette.

  • Pen/Highlighter – Toggles between Pen and Highlighter
  • Clear Screen – Clears all drawing on screen
  • Screenshot – Saves full screen or cropped image
  • Crop – Allows the screenshot to be saved by cropping from the edges
  • Close – Closes the palette and existing on-screen drawings
  • Whiteboard – Opens Whiteboard App
  • File – Opens File Explorer App
  • Move – Allows the palette to be moved on the screen with drag & drop
  • Color Palette – Selects pen or highlight color depending on pen mode selected with Pen/Highlighter button. Supported colors are Black, Red, Green, Blue
  • Size Palette – Selects pen or highlighter tip thickness depending on the pen mode selected with the Pen/Highlighter button
  • Eraser – Located in the color palette and switches to eraser mode

DRAW ON SCREEN

Please follow instructions below for drawing on screen.

  • Touch the screen with two fingertips held V shape
  • OR Press Palette button on Tools Menu
  • Press Pen button to toggle between Pen and Highlighter modes
  • Select desired pen color and size on color and size palettes
  • Draw anywhere on screen with a Pen
  • Press eraser button at color palette to erase local areas.
  • Press clear all button at quick palette to clear all dravings at screen.
  • Press Close button to exit

SCREENSHOT AND CROP

Please follow instructions below for cropping and saving annotations on screen.

To crop and save the screen image, please follow the steps below.

  • Tap the screen with two fingertips held in a V shape
  • OR Press Palette button in Tools Menu
  • Press the crop button and resize the crop rectangle
  • Press the screenshot button to save the cropped image
  • OR Press the Crop button again to cancel

CROP

Crop tool provides cropping the contents of the screen and saving the cropped image. Please follow instructions below for cropping and saving screen image.

Screenshot Tool provides saving full screen contents as an image. Please follow instructions below for saving screen image.

USER MANAGEMENT

VBoard IFP provides user management. Following operations are supported with user management.

  • List Users
  • Add / Edit / Delete Users
  • Set User / Lock Passwords
  • Set User NFC

There are two user roles supported.

  • Super Admin – Able to list users or add, edit and delete any user or update user password, lock password and NFC Ids of his/her own or any user
  • User – Able to edit his/her own user password, lock password and NFC Id

Please follow instructions below for viewing User Managemet screen including user list and related user function buttons.

  • Press Settings button on the menu bar located at left, bottom or right edges of the screen
  • Press Users button located at Settings Menu for viewing User Management page
